Theschoolof materials scienceandengineering atNorth ChinaUniversityof Water Resources and Electric Power(hereafter mentioned as "theschool") is recognized both nationally and internationally for its excellence in research and teaching. Beginning in2018from the very specialty of mechanical engineeringand civil engineeringmaterials,theschool has 3 undergraduate majors which are MaterialMolding andControlEngineering, Inorganic nonmetallic Material Engineering andResourceRecyclingScience&Engineering.The major ofMaterialMoldingandControlEngineering and the major of Inorganic nonmetallicMaterialEngineering are all the major of "comprehensive reform experimental unit" in Henan Province.
The fundamental objective for the development of theschoollies inregional economic development needs in Henan Province,training high-level and internationalizedappliedtalents.The scientific research programs in theschoolare to cater to practical needs, with the emphasis on improvingmaterials ‘performanceand properties. The orientation for training talents is to develop professional researchers and engineers with expertise backgrounds of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Fivemain research directions are engaged in theschool, including (1)Preparation and processing of advanced materials: where the key issues involved in material molding, composite technology and connection are highlighted, including modification and protection technology of composite functional coating material,forming technologyofadvanced structuralmaterial, especiallyliquid phase plasmasurface treatment technology;(2)New water conservancy materials: digital design, digitalmanufacture and advanced forming process equipmentforwater conservancymaterials;(3)Inorganic non-metallic materials and their multi-functionalized design: where the research focus lies inhigh efficiency gas separation membrane, newfunctionalceramics, optical catalysis, etc;(4)Building material: which are aimed atapplication of high performance concrete,advancedcement materialandgreen manufacturing of building materials; (5)Research on solidwaste treatment, where the focus is on reusetechnology of construction waste,glassandtailings, etc.
Theschoolhasprovincial innovation and technology team,“ZhihuiZhengzhou 1125Jucaiprogram" and 2 provincial key disciplines (joint)principal investigator andresearchdirection.In addition, there are school-level innovative research team of waste resource utilization and new materials development,inorganic non-metallic materials engineering basic courses teaching team,inorganic nonmetallic materials courses excellent teaching teamandbuilding materials courses excellent teaching team.
Twoprovince-level key laboratories andresearch centers have been established in theschool, that is, "Henan Water Conservancy Machinery anti-wear and anti-corrosion Engineering Technology Research Center"and"Key Laboratory of surface engineering technology for new materials and water conservancy machinery". Theschoolhas also attached great importance to the collaborative development between scientific research and engineering applications, serving to the regional economic development.A number ofschoolenterprise cooperation platforms have been established. More than 40vertical and horizontalprojectshave been run in the school, including the statekey development projects863sub-topics, as well as the National Science Foundation of China. The output included120SCI,EI, ISTP-indexed publications,35approved invention patents, and6provincial and ministerial level scientific prizes and awardssince 2015.
Theschoolhas 44faculty members,including30Phds, 6 professors and 8 associate professors. Among them, one is an evaluation expert of the Ministry of Education, one is an outstanding expert of Henan Province, one is anoutstanding teacher from theState, one is an advanced female worker of Henan Province, one is a civilized teaching worker of Henan Province, and two are young backbone teachers of colleges anduniversities of Henan Province.Fourpeoplehave beenabroad for exchangeasState visiting scholarsponsored by the National Study Abroad Fund Committee.
